We Are History Keepers: A Workshop on Preserving the Cultural and Historical Record of Our Community

This day of workshops at the Northwest African American Museum (NAAM) provides the skills and knowledge to preserve your own historical records, including photographs, papers and collecting oral histories. Registration is required. Participation is free and includes admission to NAAM. Light refreshments are provided. Presented in partnership with the Museum of History & Industry, the Northwest African American Museum and the University of Washington Libraries.

Check in opens at 11:30 am and the program starts at 12:00 pm.

Participants will have the opportunity to attend 3 workshop sessions

  • Your Family Papers: What to Save and How to Organize Print and Digital Files
  • Collecting and Preserving Photos
  • Sharing History through Oral History Collections and Special Projects

On the registration form, please indicate your preferences for the sequence of workshop topics you would like to participate in at each of the 3 session times. This will help the organizers plan ahead. All participants will have the opportunity to attend all topics.
